Updates

It has been awhile since I've done updates on things Kate has been up to and things that are really going on in our household so here goes....

Kate is like a sponge. She is learning things so quickly I almost can't keep up. She loves to count and she can count to 10 in English and almost to 5 in Spanish. (She is obsessed with Dora and Diego, hence the Spanish). We count everything. She is starting to get more interested in colors and can tell me what some of them are. I know she should probably know them by now but has not had the faintest care about them until now and refused to learn them. Wonder who she gets all that stubbornness from??? Her vocabulary is amazing. We actually have full conversations now. Of course they are mostly about make-believe things, but still they are conversations. Watching Diego has really enhanced her knowledge of animals and we are currently always saving a Sloth or a Whale or Dolphins or other types of animals. I tell you what, I get worn out saving all these animals. It is great when we have to stop and listen because..... we hear something.... It must be Swiper the Fox. That mean old fox is going to swipe our stuff. We had better run around the house!!!!!

I bought her a Dora memory game and she really likes it. She is also very good at it. Sometimes she finds the pieces before I do. She has finally started saying that there is a baby brother in my tummy but still calls him a she. I think she is a little young to understand between he and she things yet. She has hit another growth spurt so now half of her pants are too short. Thank God her jeans were a little long! I don't think she has gained any weight because her pants are continually falling down enough to where if she bends over, you are most certainly going to see crack. Yes, we are raising a carpenter! Kidding! She said the other day that she wanted to fix babies boo boos so maybe she will be a doctor!

I finally think we have hit the terrible threes. I really didn't know if I would make it past the terrible twos, but I can see that the terrible threes are something completely different (but just as horrible). In the terrible twos, they throw fits and whine and cry and kind of do whatever they want (I'm guessing this is to see what they can get away with). The threes are more of a, I know what I'm doing and I know what I want and you can't stop me b/c I'll run from you and do it anyways phase. She is playing Brian and I against each other because if Brian doesn't give in, she thinks I will and vice versa. She is old enough now to where she can now reason with us. It may not always make sense, but she knows what she is doing. She also plays the sad puppy thing with us too. Not only that, but she thinks by loving on me and telling me she loves me or saying that she is sorry for being bad that that makes everything better and she can get what she wants. Yes, Yes, it does sound really cute when she says, "Mommy, I sorry for being bad at the store today!", but it doesn't take away the fact that I would like to strangle her sometimes! She also thinks that if she can get the candy she wants up on the counter at a store, that automatically means she gets it. I could go on and on, but basically the kid knows what is going on and thinks she knows how to work the system. One more thing, she told me yesterday that she needed a Diego movie, because she had a Dora movie but she didn't have a Diego movie and she just needed one. I told her she would have to ask someone else to get it for her and she said in the sweetest little voice.... "My nana will buy me a Diego movie!" so I told her she would just have to ask. She is so conniving!

Baby Boy (no name yet) is doing good so far. I have started feeling him kick lately. The doctor said that he has long legs so I'm sure that will feel good later! Nothing more to update on him until the next appt.

Hubby is in boat mode. He went out on his canoe lately when it had rained a lot and ended up almost killing it. Water was too high and too fast and they went into a rapid and tipped over. Needless to say the water was freezing and I'm really surprised he doesn't have a cold right now. He is really ready to take the ski boat out but I have been postponing this for some time now b/c I don't really think it is warm enough. Plus Kate will want to swim and I don't even want to have to fight that battle! So I think that is it. Until next time.......
